Hi @laurah! Welcome!!! You joined at the perfect time, because we are doing a giant pediatric OT interventions evidence review next week! I think you’ll enjoy both the article and the podcast that will come out the week after… I totally related to you comment on documentation and am going to work on adding some new peds notes for you!

It’s the best! (In my biased opinion). I’m always excited to expand my hippotherapy knowledge; looking forward to seeing it as a topic here in the future.

Wow! Fun to view the posts from at least 2018 on this welcome blog. I hope that there will be dynamic interaction on many levels as my practice areas & interests in OT niches are quite varied! Having practiced as an OT since 1986, I am now back in my roots of acute care, outpatient adults & pediatrics as well as Inpatient Adult Rehab for employment, but I am presenting @ local, regional, national, & international levels about OT roles in the phases of emergency management. Additionally, I am a strong proponent for Telehealth & OT in multiple settings as I am the ArizOTA Chair for the Telehealth Special Interest Section. Always looking for speakers & topics for that SIS as I host monthly “meetings” which are CEU’s for a 1 hour Zoom gathering. This week/month I’m having discussion on the application of Fall Prevention assessment & training virtually with evidence-based information to support effectiveness! So looking forward to collaborating with many of you on these & more as I research for my topics of Pulmonary Interventions for OT in the Acute Care setting as well as the Role of OT in the Emergency Department to compile into chapters for the 3rd Ed. of the Occupational Therapy in Acute Care book (editors, Helene Smith-Gabai & Suzanne E Holm).
Regards,
Mary (Schmitz, OTD, OT/L)

Welcome @mary51!! Any chance you were on the call when I met with ArizOTA?? You are part of on of my fave state orgs in the country!! It sounds like having you in the Club will be very symbiotic, because I want to keep up with who you are finding for speakers as well! Never hesitate to reach out and recommend someone to me- if you think their topic needs a national platform, like our podcast!!

I have two telehealth speakers I am working to get on my schedule this year! So keep an eye out!

For your other work, you’ll have to check out our article review on OTs working alongside paramedics! And, our COVID rehab discussion was also super helpful!

Welcome, @giovanna1!! We are so excited to accompany you as you transition to home health! You will be awesome at it! I think mental health work is such great foundational work for any setting. And, I’m always surprised how easily our skillset carries over from setting to setting!

Here’s our example of a home health documentation!

Peace, hugs, and OT, @lisa26!! It is great to have you!! You work in one of my favorite settings and we have some great content in here for you! Check out our COVID discussion and this great stroke and self management article! Next week, I am going to begin working on an SCI article that I’m excited about!

Welcome, @debbie6!! I live in rural NE so I totally relate to your setting!! I’m so excited about the pediatric topics we have coming up! You’ll have to keep me posted if there are any topics related to your school setting you would like covered!

Hi! Thank you for such a great platform! I am a pediatric OT that is transitioning into outpatient from school-based and private care. I enjoy your podcasts!

I’m so glad to hear this, @ellen5! I’m such a big believer in podcasts as a learning tool! The fact that you can do them when you are multitasking makes them easy to consume on a regular basis! (And, there is so much to digest in the new research- I think the only way we can keep up is if we make learning a habit!!)

Awww. Me too SarahLyon

Hello
I work in schools in Mauritius

Hello everyone, I´m Ana from Colombia; I´m very excited to join the community. For us, it´s not so easy to find Evidence-Based Practice in Spanish, so I´m eager to learn from you. Knowing how OT is performed in other countries is enriching for my practice.
