Welcome to The OT Potential Club!

Welcome, @shante!! Great to have you in here!!

Hi, I am excited to be here. I have been using free resources from here for a while now. For instance, the interview questions and how to answer them helped me ace my interviews. I am looking for some new and innovated ways to work with my clients (pediatrics).

@jessica52 This makes me so happy to hear! I LOVE interviewing and so glad you aced yours!!

I’m not sure what area of pediatrics you work in, but I HIGHLY recommend my interview with Dr. Iona Novak! I think her research and attitudes towards therapy are a bellwether of where OT is headed!

Hi everyone,
I graduated as a COTA in 1984. Sooo long ago. I had 5 children and taught then at home. All are grown uo and moved out now, so I’m working to renew my license. Trying to decide what field sounds inviting. This podcast has been very helpful.
Many blessings to all of you,
Pati

Oh wow! We are so honored to be part of your journey, @patricia25! Just so you know, I am working on an article and podcast right now that covers some of the trends in school-based OT! So, that should give you some insight into that practice area!

Hello, I am an OTA student on my first Level 2 FW. Thank you for sharing all your experiences. That is helping me a lot.

Oh wow! We are so honored to be accompanying you on your journey! FW2 is such an incredible learning experience! My own FW2 still feels so fresh in my memory- and it was 10 years ago!

Hey everyone! I’m Elize & new on the platform
I am currently still an OT student (finishing next year) all the way from South Africa! Super excited to be here & learn from other OTs :tulip:

That’s great to hear!
I was wondering if there is perhaps any content on intellectual disability somewhere on the platform? I am doing clinical fieldwork in a paed’s area with ID, and I’m still struggling to find my feet (good resources are scarce) :slightly_frowning_face:

Oh yay!! So excited to see you in here, @pooja1! I’m already so excited for our podcast later this year! I just wrapped up a podcast on tiered approaches to care in schools, and it actually made me think a lot about acute care and how something like fall prevention is a similar tiered approach! Anyways, we’ll chat more as it gets closer!

Hi @huibrecht! You’ll have the most luck searching according to specific conditions. For example, I’m linking 3 AMAZING resources on cerebral palsy below. If there is a condition we haven’t covered, don’t hesitate to ping me, and I can look at putting it on our list. For example, I know we should cover down syndrome next year!!

Systematic Review of Interventions for Preventing and Treating Children with Cerebral Palsy

#35: Cerebral Palsy and OT Evidence with Iona Novak (CE Course)

Thank you so much @SarahLyon ! These seem like great resources!
I will do so in future

So happy to join this OT community… looking forward to learn and connect with other therapists.

Hi Sarah,
I’m so thrilled to be a part of this learning community. A colleague shared one of your podcasts about Mindfulness and Chronic pain and I found it so helpful and intriguing. I look forward to exploring all the other informative topics you have highlighted.
Thanks,
Tara Boehne

Welcome, @aubrey!! I just saw on your profile that you are in St. Paul- one of my favorite US cities! (I went to college in Northfield, MN and got to do a j-term in St. Paul!) And, I’m especially excited to have a school-based OT in here!

Welcome, @tara11! oooooo I’m so happy found that episode as a starting point! If you are looking for a next episode- I think the episode on ACT builds on the mindfulness episode in a really interesting way!
