Preventing Falls in Hospitalized Patients

100%!! We are grateful that OT gets a consult on every patient coming in with a fall, and after there is an in-house fall with a patient not already receiving OT. It required a lot of attendance at interdisciplinary rounds and assistance from our PT partners who would request an OT consult with every fall to get to where we are today. The OT approach is absolutely key in often identifying true source and providing appropriate referrals and interventions!

@elizabeth1 and @SarahLyon have you or anyone else heard of Right Care Ministries model? I just learned about it and an occupational therapist helped to develop an assessment (based on research) that helps to hit the actual REAL reasons folks fall. His name is Randy Bartosh. It’s really caught my attention. Learning more.

Hello,

I will ask your pastoral care person if they know about this program. Not sure if it is here in New Brunswick.

Thank you,

I’m googling it now… I’m super curious to stay up to date on what you learn…
