Also, sensory integration is different from sensory modulation from my understanding. Sensory integration (including Ayes Sensory Integration) is the overarching goal of sensory interventions. AOTA says SI involves “perceiving, modulating, organizing, and interpreting sensations to optimize occupational
performance and participation.” Sensory modulation is a part of sensory integration and often is utilized during treatment sessions to help get to that overall optimal state of arousal for participation.
